Maximo Dedicated SaaS can be deployed
On any of the client's preferred cloud providers
Maximo Dedicated SaaS, a robust enterprise asset management solution, provides organizations with the flexibility to choose their preferred cloud provider for deployment. With compatibility on leading platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or any other cloud platforms, IBM empowers clients to optimize their asset management processes while leveraging the capabilities of their chosen cloud environment. In addition to the software itself, IBM offers a suite of services designed to facilitate a seamless deployment experience for clients.
- IBM Maximo Dedicated SaaS on AWS is a fully managed service that provides customers with a secure, scalable, and reliable environment for running Maximo. IBM manages all aspects of the deployment, including infrastructure, software, and security.Â
- IBM Maximo Dedicated SaaS on Azure is a fully managed service that provides customers with a secure, scalable, and reliable environment for running Maximo. IBM manages all aspects of the deployment, including infrastructure, software, and security.Â
- IBM Maximo Dedicated SaaS on GCP is a fully managed service that provides customers with a secure, scalable, and reliable environment for running Maximo. IBM manages all aspects of the deployment, including infrastructure, software, and security.Â
Cloud Architecture:
The Maximo Application Suite (MAS) comprises a comprehensive set of applications leveraging essential technologies from IBM, Red Hat, and AWS. The MAS as a Service (MAS-SaaS) offers this capability through the Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure.
Due to security considerations, physical visits by customers to AWS data centers are restricted. The specific street addresses of these data centers remain undisclosed. This practice adheres to IBM’s NIST guidelines and AICPA Trust Services criteria.
Instance Architecture:
The diagram below presents a broad overview of the architecture for each distinct client instance.
MAS-SaaS Architecture Highlights:
- By default, MAS-SaaS customers are allocated a single (1) environment.
- All clients will have their own application instance established using a dedicated namespace.
- IT administration for the environment is exclusively overseen by IBM’s MAS SaaS SRE operations team.
- Clients can access their environment through a browser-based URL.
- MAS-SaaS functions as an internet-based service, operating over HTTPS. No private cloud or direct connect option is available for MAS-SaaS.
- Clients are granted application administrator access.
- All servers utilize the Red Hat Linux operating system.
- Maximo Manage databases utilize IBM DB2 Warehouse. Oracle and MS SQLServer are not supported.
MAS-SaaS Integrations
IBM Maximo Application Suite as a Service facilitates integration with external systems. Various secure integration connection options are provided, including SSL, VPN, and Cloud Object Storage integration. The standard encryption method, HTTPS (SSL), is supported for XML-based interfaces using HTTP Post and Web Service endpoints. Additionally, the REST API is accessible over HTTPS. All of these integration approaches can also incorporate authentication for added security.
For integrations necessitating file-based transfers, Cloud Object Storage is accessible. To support alternative integration transport methods, a Site-to-Site IPsec VPN Tunnel can be established between the client network and the IBM cloud environment, employing IBM’s firewall. This enhances the spectrum of integration possibilities and ensures secure and reliable data exchange.
Integration options include, but are not limited to:
- Support for synchronous and asynchronous exchange of data with applications within the Suite
- Use of common protocols and format such as Web Services, HTTP, JMS, REST, OSLC, XML, JSON, XML and .csv files, DB tables
- Support of Create, Replace, Update, Delete and Query operation
- Support for customizing integration processing using Processing Rules and Scripting
For the MS-Manage Application:
- Maximo integration message generation and delivery based on application object events
- Support for implementation (batch) data loading
- Pre-defined (75+) interface components provided along with applications to configure new interfaces
- Support for customizing integration processing using Processing Rules and Scripting
For file based integrations, an AWS S3 Cloud Object Storage location will be allocated for each order. 5 API Keys will be generated for the client to use to move files in and out of the location. Additional keys can be ordered. To initiate this process, customers must submit a support case.
One Site-to-Site VPN is included in the order. To initiate the creation of this VPN, customers must submit a support case. At this time, the VPN is only available for LDAP integrations.
For clients aiming to utilize App Connect or File integration for other applications in the suite:
- AppConnect is provided as an entitlement with the Maximo Application Suite, but its implementation or support is not conducted within the MAS-SaaS environment. The onus lies on the client to execute AppConnect or, starting from MAS version 8.7, AppConnect SaaS will be made available.
- Regarding clients desiring file integrations with applications beyond Manage, this matter should be deliberated with the Sales team, and a suitable solution should be put in place. Cloud Object Storage (COS) is exclusively provided for the Manage application and is not extended to other applications.
