What's new in Maximo Manage 9.0

Maximo Manage component versions

From Maximo Manage 9.0 onwards, component version numbers are now synchronized with the Maximo Manage version itself. These numbers are continuously incremented due to ongoing delivery updates. To ensure you have the most recent version, choose the component with the highest version number. For instance, Maximo Spatial 9.0.42 represents a current example. Major and minor fix pack versions maintain consistency, such as 9.0.0 and 9.0.1. Further details can be found in the release notes for Maximo Application Suite.

New and enhanced applications

AI Configuration Application: Discover the new AI Configuration application within the Administration module. This tool facilitates the setup and customization of AI functionalities in Maximo Manage. For detailed guidance, refer to the “Administering AI Configuration” section.

Formulas Application: Access the new Formulas application, now located in the System Configuration module of the Maximo Manage navigation menu. Utilize this application to incorporate object and attribute formulas effectively. For comprehensive instructions, consult the “Formulas” documentation.

Planning Capability in Work Orders Application: Enhance your workflow in the Work Orders application with the newly integrated Planning capability. Navigate through the Plans menu to oversee critical aspects:

    • Establish and manage parent-child relationships between work orders.
    • Coordinate labor, materials, and tools essential for work orders.
    • Efficiently manage tasks associated with each work order. For further insights, refer to the “Work Orders Application” documentation.

Enhanced Work Queue Manager Application: Administrators can utilize the Work Queue Manager application to create work queues for various entities such as work orders, purchase requests, purchase orders, incidents, and service requests. Detailed instructions can be found in the “Creating Work Queues” documentation.

New Status Field in Routes Application: The Routes application in Maximo Manage now includes a new Status field, allowing users to set the route status as draft, active, or inactive. More information on creating routes and viewing their history can be found in the relevant documentation.

New Qualifications Field in Job Plans Application: Enhance job plans by adding specific qualification requirements. When associating a work order with a job plan, the qualification requirements in the work order automatically align with those in the job plan. See “Adding Qualifications to Job Plans” for detailed instructions.

Choose the Start Day of the Week: In both the Graphical Work Week and Graphical Resource View applications, you now have the flexibility to select the start day of the week. For guidance on creating work lists and resource lists, refer to the respective documentation.

Milestone Tasks in Job Plans Application: Within the Job Plans application, administrators can designate tasks as milestone tasks by setting the “Is Milestone” attribute. Learn more about adding tasks to job plans in the documentation.

Create Strategies in Reliability Strategies: Access a comprehensive library of asset-specific failure details and mitigation activities in Reliability Strategies. This library, curated by industry and domain experts, covers numerous assets and potential failures across all operational contexts. Additionally, customize strategies for your organization’s specific assets on the Custom Strategies tab. Detailed instructions are available in the “Creating Strategies” documentation.

Bulk Import Failure Mode Details: Import detailed failure mode information in bulk for efficient management. For more details on this feature, visit IBM Marketplace.

Deprecated applications

Work Centers: Beginning with Maximo Manage 9.0, the Inspection Forms and Manage Monitoring Information Work Centers are deprecated. The Inspection Forms Work Center has been replaced with a new application built on the Maximo Application Framework, offering equivalent functionality. For detailed guidance, refer to the “Managing Inspection Forms” and “Manage Monitoring Information” sections.

IBM Digital Twin Exchange: Effective from Maximo Manage 9.0 onwards, support for IBM Digital Twin Exchange has been discontinued.

Integrations

New Functions in the Tools API: Enhanced capabilities have been introduced in the tools API, allowing users to monitor the build status of Maximo Manage and manage customization archives. These functions include adding, updating, or deleting archives with or without secrets. For detailed instructions, refer to the documentation on “APIs to Invoke Utilities and Administrative Functions.

Integration with Cognos Analytics Stand-Alone Server: Maximo Manage now supports integration with your own licensed Cognos Analytics stand-alone server. This integration enables users to leverage Cognos Analytics functionalities within Maximo Manage. To configure this integration, consult the documentation on “Configuring Cognos Analytics Stand-Alone Server.”

Technical updates

Setting Build Tag Limits: When managing multiple builds and server bundles, it’s crucial to prevent the image registry from running out of space. You can effectively manage resources by setting build tag limits. For detailed instructions, refer to the documentation on “Setting Build Tag Limits.”

Access to Internal Scripts via the Tools API: Utilize the tools API to create and manage script files, both in custom folders and internal directories such as tools/maximo and tools/maximo/internal. This access allows seamless integration and execution of scripts within Maximo Manage. Explore more in the “APIs for Administrative Utilities” documentation.

Endpoints in the KPI Manager Application: In the KPI Manager application, you now have the capability to specify endpoints instead of traditional KPI queries. This feature enables fetching data from external sources such as Maximo Monitor. Learn more about configuring and utilizing these endpoints in the documentation on “Creating Key Performance Indicators.”

New System Property for Electronic Signature Validation: A new system property, mxe.usemasforesig, has been introduced in the System Properties application within Maximo Manage. This property is designed for configuring electronic signature validation settings. For detailed information, refer to the “Electronic Signature Properties” documentation.

Map Support Changes: Support for Bing Maps and Google Maps as map providers has been deprecated in Maximo Manage. Moving forward, users can utilize the OpenMap application for map functionality. For further details, consult the “Map Manager” documentation.

Dashboard enhancements

Creating and Managing Dashboards: Maintenance Managers now have the ability to create personalized dashboards and manage access to these dashboards. For detailed instructions, refer to the documentation on “Creating Dashboards.”

Viewing Work Queues on the Operational Dashboard: On the Operational dashboard, specifically on the Work queues card, you can view work queues that are relevant to you. Any sorting or filtering of work queues on this dashboard is saved as your personalized view. Learn more in the “Work Queues” documentation.

Assigning Emergency Work on the Dispatching Dashboard: Dispatchers can now manage emergency work orders directly from the Dispatching dashboard. This includes viewing emergency work orders in schedules and assigning them to appropriate resources. For further details, see the documentation on “Assigning Emergency Work in the Dashboard.”

Renamed and Enhanced Gantt Chart on the Dispatching Dashboard:

The Graphical View on the Dispatching dashboard has been renamed to Gantt chart and includes new functionalities. These enhancements allow users to visualize work order statuses, access high-level work order details, and even view locations on a map. Explore more about these features in the “Exploring the Gantt Chart” documentation.
